Established in 1971, Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) is an autonomous higher education institution, located in Loja, the cultural city of Ecuador. 
Renowned as a leader in distance education and at the forefront of technological advances, UTLP’s wide portfolio of undergraduate and graduate degree programs encourage students to explore, discover, experiment and create their own knowledge. 
UTLP’s 87 university centers located throughout Ecuador and three international centers in New York, Madrid, and Rome, make it a provider of education on both a national and international scale. 
Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja aims to enrich its students’ learning journey and global outlook with internships at real companies and student exchange opportunities at international universities. 
10 percent of the knowledge that Ecuador contributes to the world is generated by the lecturers and professors at the university, of which 93 percent have a master’s or doctorate degree.
 
Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja is a leader of the Sustainable Development Goals 17 Alliances which strives to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.
The university also has the largest number of UNESCO Chair programs which aim to foster international links in order to improve the quality of society.

The main language of instruction at the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja is Spanish. However, the university is looking to provide more opportunities for students worldwide, and has signed agreements with English teaching institutions to provide online learning alternatives.
